Webflow vs Framer in 2026: which one fits your site after the May plan reset?
Webflow merged its CMS and Business plans into Premium in 2026. A dated, side-by-side comparison of Webflow and Framer on price, CMS limits, localisation, AI credits, code export and SEO, with a decision matrix for marketing sites.

Key takeaways
- 01Framer is quicker for design-led marketing sites and cheaper at the low end; Webflow has the deeper CMS, larger collection limits, ecommerce plans and more mature team controls.
- 02Webflow combined its CMS and Business plans into Premium: $25 a month billed yearly or $39 monthly, with 20,000 CMS items and 40 collections (webflow.com, read 23 October 2026).
- 03Framer lists Basic at $10 and Pro at $30 a month with yearly billing; Pro includes 2,500 CMS items, expandable to 40,000 at $20 per 10,000 (framer.com, read 23 October 2026).
- 04Neither is a clean exit: Webflow code export needs a Workspace plan and leaves out CMS content, and Framer's help centre says it does not offer HTML export for self-hosting.
- 05Compare total cost for your real brief (pages, CMS items, locales, editors, AI credits), not the headline price.
Framer is quicker for design-led marketing sites and is cheaper at the low end; Webflow has the deeper CMS, larger collection limits and more mature localisation, ecommerce and team controls. After Webflow's May 2026 plan change, compare total cost for your page count, CMS items, locales and editors, not headline prices.
Many Webflow vs Framer comparisons still quote plans that no longer exist, or treat each vendor's own comparison page as neutral. This one uses the two pricing pages as they stood on 23 October 2026, read from a US location in US dollars. Prices exclude tax, which both vendors add at checkout, and they may differ by region. We build marketing sites on Webflow and on Next.js, and we migrate sites between platforms, so the aim is to help you pick, not to sell one.

What changed in Webflow's May 2026 pricing?
Webflow's pricing announcement says it is "combining the CMS and Business plans into one" new Premium Site plan, priced "at $25/month for a yearly plan or $39/month for a monthly plan". It also raised the included CMS limits: "all customers on the Premium plan will have 20,000 CMS items and 40 CMS Collections included." Basic went up to $15 a month on yearly billing and $25 monthly, with the static page limit doubling from 150 to 300.
When the change reaches existing sites depends on where they sit. Webflow's community update gives "June 29, 2026 for most existing sites" and "November 16, 2026 for sites in Freelancer or Agency Workspaces and sites on legacy pricing". If an agency hosts your site in its Workspace, the November renewal is the one to check.
Two details catch former Business plan customers. Webflow says included bandwidth for those sites "will decrease from 100GB to 50GB", with bandwidth add-ons still available. And collaboration is billed through Workspace plans, separately from the site plan.
Webflow also added a Team plan at $2,500 a month on an annual contract, which bundles a site with 100 CMS collections, 10 seats and Localize. That sits well above most marketing-site budgets, but it is relevant for larger teams comparing against enterprise CMSs.
How much do Webflow and Framer cost for a real site?
Headline prices hide most of the difference. Here is a typical brief priced from each vendor's page on 23 October 2026: a 40-page marketing site with a blog of 300 posts, two languages and three people editing.
| Line | Webflow | Framer |
|---|---|---|
| Site plan | Premium, $25 a month billed yearly (CMS needed for the blog) | Pro, $30 a month with yearly billing (Basic's 30-page limit is too low) |
| CMS items | 300 of 20,000 included | 300 of 2,500 included |
| Second language | Localize Essential from $9 a month | $20 a month for one extra locale |
| Editors | Collaboration billed through a Workspace plan | Extra editors $20 a month each |
| Bandwidth | 50 GB included | 100 GB included |
The point is not which column is cheaper; on a brief this size they land close together, and the answer flips as the brief changes. More CMS items push you towards Webflow, whose Premium plan includes eight times Framer Pro's base allowance. More locales favour whichever add-on suits your count: Framer charges per locale, Webflow per tier. More editors push up Framer's per-seat line. Ask for your brief to be priced on both, line by line, using the current pricing pages.
How do the CMS limits compare?
| CMS limit (23 Oct 2026) | Webflow | Framer |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Starter: limited CMS (50 items, 20 collections) | Free: 10 CMS collections, aimed at non-commercial use and no custom domain |
| Entry plan | Basic: no CMS | Basic: 1,000 items, 2 collections |
| Main plan | Premium: 20,000 items, 40 collections | Pro: 2,500 items, 10 collections; up to 40,000 items at $20 per 10,000, and up to 40 collections at $40 per 10 |
| Larger plans | Team: 100 collections; Enterprise: custom | Enterprise: custom |
Webflow's CMS is also the more mature modelling tool. Its collections support custom and reference fields, and its REST APIs let you manage CMS content programmatically or connect an external database. Framer's CMS is simpler and very quick to use for blogs, case studies and job listings, which covers most marketing sites. If your content has many related types (products, authors, categories, locations, resources), Webflow handles that structure more comfortably.
Which is better for multilingual sites?
Both now handle the basics well, so the details decide it.
- Webflow Localize is an add-on. On 23 October 2026, Localize Essential started at $9 a month for up to 3 locales and 10,000 AI-translated words a month, with CMS, static page and SEO localisation. Localize Advanced started at $29 a month for up to 10 locales and 50,000 words, and adds asset localisation, localised URLs and automatic visitor routing.
- Framer charges $20 per locale, up to 20 locales, on Basic and Pro. Since December 2025 Framer can "translate paths for any page on your site, not just CMS content", so older articles saying Framer can't translate slugs are out of date.
For two or three languages, Framer is simple and predictable. For many languages with localised URLs, routing and assets, Webflow's Advanced tier is the more complete toolset, and Team includes Localize.
How do AI features and credits compare?
Both platforms now meter AI with credits.
- Webflow includes AI credits in every Workspace plan. Its community update says self-serve credits reset monthly, Team and Enterprise credits reset annually, and "credit limits won't be enforced until June 29, 2026", so they are enforced now.
- Framer includes 1,000 AI credits a month on Basic and 3,000 on Pro, with larger credit bundles available. Its FAQ says credits power "Agents, Localization, and other AI features" and are shared across the workspace and its editors.
Treat AI credits as a running cost, not a one-off. If your team plans to generate pages, translate content or run AI agents heavily, estimate monthly usage and check what happens when credits run out.
Can you export code from Webflow or Framer?
This is the lock-in question, and the honest answer is "only partly" for both.
Webflow. Its help centre says code export is available only on Workspace plans, and the exported files leave out CMS content, ecommerce, user accounts and localised content; forms and site search stop working once exported. CMS collections can be exported separately as CSV. So an export gives you a static shell, not a working site.
Framer. Its help centre is clear on self-hosting: "Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting." A separate article on porting your data says sites are published as standard HTML, CSS, JavaScript and assets that "You can download these files at any time and move them to any hosting provider", and that CMS content can be exported "using plugins into structured formats such as CSV or JSON." The two articles don't fully agree, so plan as if Framer has no supported HTML export, and export your CMS content regularly.
In both cases, the safest assumption is that leaving means rebuilding the front end and importing the content. If owning the code matters to you, a framework such as Next.js with a headless CMS is the alternative.
Which is better for SEO, speed and hosting?
Both can rank. Both host the site for you, generate sitemaps, let you set titles, meta descriptions and canonical tags, and output clean, crawlable pages. Framer says its sites are "delivered close to users worldwide via AWS CloudFront". Webflow lets you control indexing per CMS item and add well-known files on Premium.
What decides SEO on either platform is the same as anywhere else: content quality, information architecture, internal links, redirects when URLs change, image weight and Core Web Vitals. Heavy animation, autoplay video and large unoptimised images can slow a site on either platform. Test on real devices, and watch field data rather than lab scores alone.
How do you move between Webflow and Framer?
There is no one-click migration either way. Framer to Webflow, or Webflow to Framer, is a rebuild of the design and components, plus a content import.
- Export content: Webflow CMS as CSV; Framer CMS through a CSV or JSON export plugin.
- Rebuild the design system (styles, components, breakpoints) on the new platform.
- Recreate the CMS structure and import the content, checking rich text, images and references.
- Map every URL and set up 301 redirects for anything that changes.
- Carry over SEO settings: titles, descriptions, canonical tags, Open Graph images and structured data.
- Reconnect forms, analytics and integrations, and test them before launch.
- Monitor Search Console for 404s and ranking changes after the switch.

| Two or three languages | Either; Framer is simple per locale |
| Many languages with localised URLs and routing | Webflow (Localize Advanced or Team) |
| Many editors with roles and publishing workflows | Webflow |
| You must own and self-host the code | Neither; consider Next.js with a headless CMS |
