FIG 01 · Enterprise SEO

Enterprise SEO for large, complex websites

Enterprise SEO that ships: we write the tickets, the code and the templates, not just the audit, so fixes reach production through your engineering backlog. For marketplaces, catalogues, publishers and multi-brand sites.

FIG 02 · Quick answer

What is enterprise SEO?

Enterprise SEO is search optimization for large websites, often tens of thousands to millions of URLs, where templates, crawl budget and release processes matter more than single pages. Elgrith audits crawling and indexing, fixes faceted navigation and migrations, ships changes through your engineering backlog and reports organic and AI search visibility.

FIG 03 · Why it matters

At scale, SEO is a crawling problem before it’s a content problem.

FIG 04 · Definition

How enterprise SEO differs from regular SEO

Enterprise SEO uses the same search fundamentals, applied to sites where one template controls thousands of pages and every change goes through a release process. The work moves from pages to systems.

01

Log-file and crawl analysis

Where Googlebot spends its time, which sections it ignores and which URLs waste crawls, from your server logs and full-site crawls.

02

Indexation management

Index bloat, duplicate URLs, soft 404s and “Discovered – currently not indexed” backlogs, fixed at the pattern level.

03

Faceted navigation

Filter and sort URLs controlled with robots.txt, clean parameters and 404s for empty combinations, following Google’s rules.

04

Template-level internal linking

Breadcrumbs, related links, pagination and hub pages designed into templates, so link equity reaches deep pages.

05

Structured data at scale

JSON-LD generated from your data for products, articles, organizations and breadcrumbs, tested per template.

06

Core Web Vitals by template

LCP, INP and CLS measured from field data and fixed per template, so one change improves every page that uses it.

07

Migrations

Replatforms, domain moves and URL changes with redirect maps, release checks and monitoring after launch.

08

Governance and reporting

SEO rules in your release checklist, checks in CI and reports by section, so wins aren’t undone by the next release.

FIG 06 · Who it’s for

When a site needs enterprise SEO

Size is one signal: Google’s crawl budget guide starts at 1 million+ pages changing weekly, or 10,000+ changing daily. Complexity is the other: many brands, markets or teams publishing to one platform.

  • Marketplaces

    Scale
Listings that appear and expire every day
    Main risk
Expired and empty pages eating crawl budget
  • Ecommerce catalogues

    Scale
Products, variants and filtered category URLs
    Main risk
Faceted navigation creating millions of near-duplicates
    E-commerce SEO
  • Publishers

    Scale
Thousands of articles, tags and archives
    Main risk
Thin tag pages and slow discovery of new stories
  • Multi-brand sites

    Scale
Several brands on one platform or design system
    Main risk
Brands competing for the same queries
  • Multi-country sites

    Scale
Many markets and languages on shared templates
    Main risk
Broken hreflang and the wrong version ranking
    International SEO
  • Large company sites

    Scale
Many teams publishing to one domain
    Main risk
No owner for SEO rules across teams

FIG 07 · Crawling

Crawl budget and faceted navigation

On large sites, Google’s crawl budget guide and its faceted navigation rules decide which pages get crawled at all. We apply both, from Google’s pages updated 22 Jul 2026 and 18 Dec 2025.

06principles

  • 404 or 410 for removed pages

Google recommends a 404 or 410 for pages removed for good, not noindex: a noindexed page still gets requested, which wastes crawl time.

  • Block filter URLs you don’t need

Google’s first recommendation for faceted URLs that don’t need indexing is to disallow them in robots.txt, keeping item pages and unfiltered listings crawlable.

  • Fragments for filters

Filters in URL fragments are generally ignored by Google’s crawler, so they create no extra URLs to crawl.

  • The “&” separator, in a fixed order

Google asks for the standard “&” parameter separator, filters in a consistent order and no duplicate filters in one URL.

  • 404 for empty combinations

Google says to return a 404 when a filter combination has no results, including nonsense combinations and pagination that doesn’t exist.

  • A fast, stable server

Google’s crawl capacity rises when your site responds quickly and falls with slow responses, 5xx errors or 429 rate limits.

FIG 08 · Migrations

Migrations without losing traffic

Replatforms and domain moves are where large sites lose the most traffic. Google says to expect temporary ranking fluctuation, so we plan, test and monitor every redirect.

05principles

  • A full redirect map

Every old URL mapped to its closest new equivalent, built from crawls, logs, analytics and backlinks, not just the sitemap.

  • 301 or 308, server-side

Permanent, server-side redirects with no chains, as Google recommends, tested in staging before launch.

  • Redirects kept a year or more

Google says to keep redirects as long as possible, generally at least a year. We write that into your launch plan.

  • Change of Address when needed

Search Console’s Change of Address tool for domain and subdomain moves, which Google says isn’t needed for path changes on one domain.

  • Website migration

CMS and platform moves planned with SEO from the first workshop, by the team that builds the new site.

    Website migration

FIG 09 · Delivery

Getting SEO into the engineering roadmap

Most enterprise SEO audits die in a slide deck. Ours become tickets your engineers can estimate, and we can write the code ourselves.

05principles

  • Tickets with acceptance criteria

Each finding written as a ticket in your tracker, with the affected URL patterns, the fix and how to test it.

  • Pull request reviews

We review changes to templates, routing and rendering before they merge, so SEO issues are caught in code review.

  • We write the code

Our engineers can ship fixes in your codebase, in Next.js, WordPress, Shopify or custom stacks, if agreed in your scope.

  • Release checks

Automated checks in CI for robots rules, canonicals, status codes and structured data, so a release can’t quietly break SEO.

  • Written governance

An SEO rulebook for every team that publishes: URL rules, templates, redirects and who signs off.

FIG 11 · Measurement

How we report enterprise SEO

Reports by site section and template, not one sitewide number, with a baseline taken before any release. Reporting rhythm and windows are agreed in your written scope.

FIG 12 · Process · 6 steps

Logs first, then the backlog

A free call, a crawl and log audit, a fixed written quote, then fixes shipped through your release process with checks after each release.

  1. Step 01

    Free call

Tell us about your site, your markets and what search is doing for you today. We ask about your stack, your team and your release process first.

  2. Step 02

    Audit

We crawl the site, read your server logs and Search Console data, and map templates and URL patterns, then rank the issues by traffic at stake and engineering effort.

  3. Step 03

    Fixed written quote

A written scope and a fixed quote, with the timeline, access and reporting agreed before work starts. Your Search Console, analytics and CMS stay in your name, and you own the code and IP.

  4. Step 04

    Sprints with weekly demos

Fixes written as tickets, reviewed in pull requests or built by our engineers, sprint by sprint, each shown in a weekly demo.

  5. Step 05

    Launch

Fixes released through your pipeline, with crawl, index and status-code checks after each release.

  6. Step 06

    Support
