Managed IT services vs break-fix IT support
The question most London businesses ask first: pay when it breaks, or pay to stop it breaking?
| Managed IT services | Break-fix IT support | |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | A fixed monthly fee for an agreed scope | An hourly or per-job fee when something breaks |
| When work happens | All the time: monitoring, patching and checks run in the background | Only after you report a problem |
| Response | Targets for each priority, agreed in writing | Best effort, depending on availability |
| Prevention | Built in: updates, tested backups, security baselines and reviews | Not usually part of the service |
| Budgeting | Predictable month to month | Unpredictable: a bad month costs more |
| Best for | Teams that rely on IT every day and want fewer problems | Very small setups with occasional, simple needs |

Response times (SLA)
Response times, agreed in writing
Every ticket gets a priority. The response and resolution targets for each one are written into your agreement after the IT audit, based on your users, hours and risks.
| Priority | What it looks like | How we handle it | Targets |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1Critical | The business is stopped: email down for everyone, suspected ransomware, a key system offline. | Worked first, ahead of everything else, with regular updates until it’s resolved. | Set in your agreement |
| P2High | A team or a key person can’t work: VPN down for a department, a director’s laptop failing. | Worked next, with a workaround first where one exists. | Set in your agreement |
| P3Normal | One person affected, with a workaround: a printer, a single app, a mailbox rule. | Handled in order during agreed support hours. | Set in your agreement |
| P4Request | Planned changes: new starters, leavers, licences and access requests. | Scheduled for the date you need it. | Set in your agreement |
We don’t publish one-size-fits-all SLA figures. Your targets are agreed with you and written into your contract.

Switching IT provider: our 30/60/90-day plan
A documented, low-drama handover from your current provider. These are the typical phases; your plan is dated after the audit.
- Step 01
Days 1–30: discovery and documentation
We audit users, devices, licences, admin accounts, backups and vendors, collect admin access safely from your outgoing provider and document everything in a system you own.
- Step 02
Days 31–60: security baseline
MFA for everyone, admin accounts locked down, devices enrolled and patched, backups verified with a test restore and email security tightened. Gaps against Cyber Essentials are listed and closed.
- Step 03
Days 61–90: steady state
Helpdesk, monitoring and patching run on schedule. You get your first monthly report and a review of risks, costs and next steps.
