UK and EU rules to plan for

Built with UK GDPR and the EU AI Act in mind.

AI that touches personal data falls under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 is changing parts of UK data law. The ICO says its guidance on AI and data protection “is under review and may be subject to change”, so we check the current guidance at the start of every project. If you sell into the EU, the EU AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024 and became applicable on 2 August 2026, with some exceptions; Annex III high-risk rules were extended to 2 December 2027. This is context, not legal advice: your DPO or lawyer makes the final call.
