FIG 01 · Restaurant Website Design
Restaurant websites that win direct orders, not just compliments
Fast, accessible restaurant sites with HTML menus, online ordering and reservations, and Google Business Profile links that point home, so more orders skip the marketplace commission.

FIG 02 · Quick answer
What does restaurant website design include?
Elgrith designs restaurant websites that turn searches into direct orders and bookings. We build fast, WCAG 2.2-accessible sites with HTML menus that carry allergen and calorie details, online ordering and reservations, Restaurant schema and Google Business Profile order links, so fewer orders go through marketplaces that charge commission on every sale.
- Menus search engines and screen readers can read
- HTML

- 1,000+
- Clients across the USA, UK and India

FIG 03 · Why it matters
Every marketplace order has a fee. Every inaccessible site has a risk.
From Uber Eats’ published US terms, Seyfarth Shaw’s ADA Title III research and the UK Food Standards Agency, checked on 23 Oct 2026.

30%
Uber Eats’ Premium Package fee
Uber Eats’ US merchant terms list default marketplace fees of 30% (Premium), 25% (Plus) and 20% (Lite, subject to fee cap laws). Your order form can set different terms.

3,117
Website accessibility lawsuits in 2025
Plaintiffs filed 3,117 website accessibility lawsuits in US federal court in 2025, a 27% rise on 2024. That count covers every industry, not only restaurants.

Allergens UK diners ask about
The FSA’s best practice for non-prepacked food: allergen information available both before the food is ordered and when it is delivered, covering the 14 allergens.

FIG 04 · The maths
Direct ordering vs marketplace fees
A worked example using Uber Eats’ published US default marketplace rates. Your own figures depend on your signed order form, your ordering software and payment fees, so run it with your numbers.
| Lite (20%) | Plus (25%) | Premium (30%) | Your own site | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fee on one $40 order | $8.00 | $10.00 | $12.00 | No marketplace commission |
| Fee on $10,000 of orders | $2,000 | $2,500 | $3,000 | No marketplace commission |
| Costs you still pay | Included in the fee | Included in the fee | Included in the fee | Card processing, ordering software, your delivery |
| Who reaches the customer next time | The marketplace | The marketplace | The marketplace | You, with their consent |
| Best used for | Discovery by new diners | Discovery by new diners | Discovery by new diners | Regulars and repeat orders |
Rates: Uber Eats US merchant terms (last modified 2 Jun 2026), which list Premium 30%, Plus 25% and Lite 20% “subject to Fee Cap Laws”, and a 10% pickup fee (7% discounted); checked 23 Oct 2026. Defaults can be overridden by your order form. Most restaurants keep the marketplaces for discovery and move regulars to direct ordering.

FIG 07 · Google
Your website and Google Business Profile
Many diners decide on Google before they ever reach your site. We make sure the order, booking and menu links there point home. Checked 23 Oct 2026.
05principles
“Order online” that points home
Google says ordering options appear under the “Order online” button in some regions, and lets you set a preferred provider or add your own order links. We set yours up.
Reserve and menu links
Booking and menu links on your profile go to your own pages, not a third-party copy that is out of date.

FIG 09 · Accessibility
ADA and WCAG 2.2
Why restaurant sites get legal letters, and what we build to. Dated facts, checked 23 Oct 2026. This is general information, not legal advice, and no website can be guaranteed lawsuit-proof.
04principles
Restaurants are public accommodations
The DOJ’s web accessibility guidance (18 Mar 2022) lists food and drink establishments among the businesses Title III covers, while noting it has no regulation setting detailed web standards.
Lawsuits are rising
Seyfarth Shaw counted 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits in 2025, up 27% on 2024, across all industries.
We build to WCAG 2.2 AA
WCAG 2.2 became a W3C Recommendation on 5 October 2023. Our restaurant sites target 2.2 AA: keyboard access, contrast, alt text, labelled forms and accessible ordering.
Audit an existing site
Manual and automated WCAG 2.2 AA audits, fixes in your code and retests.

FIG 10 · UK restaurants
UK restaurants: allergen information online
Written for UK restaurants and takeaways selling online. FSA best practice, checked 23 Oct 2026; general guidance, not legal advice.
04principles
Before ordering and on delivery
The FSA’s best practice is for allergen information to be available “both before the food is ordered and when it is delivered”. We put it on the menu page and in the order flow.
All 14 allergens
Menus and ordering built around the 14 allergens the FSA lists, with a clear way to ask staff for more detail.
Natasha’s Law is separate
Natasha’s Law covers prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food and its labels. If you sell PPDS items, your labelling needs its own check.
Written in UK English
UK sites use UK spelling and prices in pounds, with menus your team can keep up to date.
FIG 11 · Measurement
What we measure after launch
No promised order numbers. We set up tracking so you can see where orders and bookings come from, and judge the site on that.
| What we track | Why it matters | |
|---|---|---|
| Direct orders | Orders placed on your site, by source | The orders that carry no marketplace commission |
| Bookings | Reservation clicks and completed bookings | Shows the site is filling tables |
| Google actions | Calls, directions, website and order clicks in Business Profile | Most diners decide here first |
| Speed | Core Web Vitals from real phones | Slow menus lose hungry people |
| Accessibility | WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every release | Keeps fixes from slipping back |
