FIG 02 · Quick answer
What does a Vue.js development company do?

Elgrith builds new apps on Vue 3 with Pinia, Vite and Nuxt 4 for server rendering, and migrates Vue 2 apps, which stopped receiving updates after 31 December 2023, and Nuxt 3 apps, which reached end of life in July 2026.

FIG 03 · Why it matters
Vue 2 stopped getting fixes in 2023. Nuxt 3 followed in 2026.
From the Vue 2 end-of-life page, the Nuxt roadmap and the npm registry, read on 23 Oct 2026.

31 Dec 2023
Vue 2 reached end of life
The Vue team: Vue 2 “will no longer receive updates, including security and browser compatibility fixes.” It still installs from npm and CDNs, so old apps keep running, unpatched.

Nuxt 3 reached end of life
The Nuxt roadmap lists 3.x as unsupported from 31 Jul 2026. Nuxt 4, stable since 16 Jul 2025, is the current line; Nuxt 5 is scheduled for Q4 2026 (estimated).

3.5.44
Latest stable Vue; 3.6 is still a release candidate
On 23 Oct 2026 npm’s “latest” tag for Vue is 3.5.44. Vue 3.6, which brings Vapor Mode, is at 3.6.0-rc.12 (published 16 Oct 2026), so it is not yet a stable release.

FIG 04 · Version check
Where your Vue or Nuxt version stands
Check the vue and nuxt versions in your package.json, then find them below. If the end-of-life date has passed, your app no longer gets framework security fixes.
| Version | Status, 23 Oct 2026 | End of life | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vue 2.x (incl. 2.7) | End of life: no security or browser fixes | 31 Dec 2023 | Migrate to Vue 3 |
| Vue 3.5 | Latest stable (3.5.44) | No date announced | New builds start here |
| Vue 3.6 | Release candidate (3.6.0-rc.12) | Not released as stable | Trial on a branch; don’t ship yet |
| Nuxt 2 | Unsupported | 30 Jun 2024 | Migrate to Nuxt 4 |
| Nuxt 3 | Unsupported | 31 Jul 2026 | Upgrade to Nuxt 4 |
| Nuxt 4 | Stable, released 16 Jul 2025 | 6 months after Nuxt 5 ships | New builds start here |
| Nuxt 5 | Scheduled: Q4 2026 (estimated) | To be announced | Plan for it; test from Nuxt 4.2+ |
Sources: v2.vuejs.org/lts, the Nuxt roadmap (nuxt.com) and the npm registry, all checked 23 Oct 2026. Nuxt 5 is an estimate, not a release; this table is updated when it ships.

FIG 06 · Migration path
Vue 2 → Vue 3 and Nuxt 3 → Nuxt 4 migrations
Migrations go wrong when they are one big rewrite. We follow the official migration path, keep the app releasable at every step and show you each step in a weekly demo.
1. Audit
- Check
- Vue, Nuxt, build tool and every plugin and UI library
- Find
- Libraries with no Vue 3 version and use of Vue 2 internals
- Output
- A written migration plan in your fixed quote
2. Tests first
- Add
- Tests around the journeys that make money
- Why
- Proof nothing broke after each step
3. Vue CLI → Vite
- Why
- Vue CLI is in maintenance mode; Vite is the recommended tool
- Then
- Faster builds and a clean base for Vue 3
4. Migration build
- Use
- @vue/compat, Vue 3 with Vue 2 behaviour switchable per feature
- Fix
- Each deprecation warning, our code first
5. Vuex → Pinia
- Why
- Vuex is in maintenance mode; Pinia is recommended for new apps
- How
- One store module at a time
6. Drop compat, release
- When
- No warnings left and tests green
- Nuxt
- Nuxt 3 → 4 with the official codemods, then test
FIG 07 · Nuxt
Nuxt development for SEO and speed
Google’s own JavaScript SEO guide says server-side or pre-rendering “is still a great idea”, because it is faster for users and crawlers and not every bot runs JavaScript. Nuxt gives a Vue app exactly that.
06principles
Server-side rendering (SSR)
Pages rendered on the server, so search engines and slow phones get full HTML first, then Vue takes over.
Static and hybrid rendering
Pre-render marketing pages, server-render product pages and keep app screens client-side, set per route.
Nuxt 3 → Nuxt 4 upgrades
Nuxt 3 reached end of life on 31 Jul 2026. We move apps to Nuxt 4, including the new app/ folder and data-fetching changes.
Nuxt 2 rescues
Nuxt 2 has been unsupported since 30 Jun 2024. We plan the move to Nuxt 4 alongside the Vue 3 migration.
Nuxt with a headless CMS
Editors publish in a headless CMS; Nuxt renders it fast.
Headless CMS development
FIG 08 · Vapor Mode
Is Vapor Mode ready?
Not for most production apps yet. Checked 23 Oct 2026: Vapor Mode ships in Vue 3.6, and 3.6 is a release candidate (3.6.0-rc.12). Vue 3.5.44 is the latest stable release.
04principles
What it is
A new, opt-in way to compile Vue single-file components, aimed at smaller bundles and faster rendering, enabled with <script setup vapor>.
What it doesn’t support
The 3.6 release notes list the Options API, app.config.globalProperties and v-memo among features that don’t work in Vapor components.
What the Vue team suggests
For now: Vapor for a performance-sensitive page inside an existing app, or for small new apps built entirely in Vapor Mode.
What we do
Production builds on Vue 3.5. We trial Vapor on a branch for hot pages and adopt it once 3.6 is stable and your libraries support it.

FIG 11 · Process · 6 steps
Build it on Vue 3, keep it current
A fixed written quote after a free call, sprints with weekly demos, and an upgrade plan so your Vue and Nuxt versions never drift out of support. You own the code and IP.
- Step 01
Free call
Tell us what you are building or what is breaking. We ask about users, data, integrations and deadlines, not just the framework.
- Step 02
Code or idea review
For a new app: users, screens, data and whether you need Nuxt for SEO. For an existing app: Vue, Nuxt and library versions, test coverage and anything tied to Vue 2.
- Step 03
Fixed written quote
A written scope, a fixed quote and the plan for versions, hosting and hand-over, before any work starts.
- Step 04
Sprints with weekly demos
Sprints in your repository, with pull requests you can read, tests in CI and a demo on staging every week.
- Step 05
Launch
A planned release from the pipeline, with performance and accessibility checked and a rollback ready.
- Step 06
Support and upgrades
Security releases applied in a patch window agreed in your written scope, plus planned upgrades before your versions lose support.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about Vue.js Development with Elgrith.
No. Vue 2 reached end of life on 31 December 2023. The Vue team says it no longer receives updates, including security and browser compatibility fixes. It still installs from npm and CDNs, so apps keep running, but new vulnerabilities and browser changes are not fixed. We recommend migrating to Vue 3.
