FIG 02 · Quick answer
What are Angular development services?
Angular development services cover building, upgrading and maintaining web apps on Google’s Angular framework. Elgrith builds new apps on Angular v22 with signals and zoneless change detection, upgrades older versions before support ends, and migrates AngularJS 1.x apps, which lost official support in January 2022, to modern Angular step by step.

FIG 03 · Why it matters
AngularJS support ended in 2022. Plenty of apps still run it.
From angular.dev, the AngularJS docs and the Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2025, checked on 23 Oct 2026.
01
Jan 2022
AngularJS support officially ended
The AngularJS docs: “AngularJS support has officially ended as of January 2022.” Apps still on AngularJS 1.x run on a framework that no longer gets official fixes.

7.2%
Of developers still used AngularJS
In the 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey, 7.2% of all respondents used AngularJS, against 18.2% for modern Angular. That is a lot of unsupported front-end code.

28 Nov 2026
Angular v20 long-term support ends
angular.dev lists 28 Nov 2026 as the end of LTS for v20, and says “Angular versions v2 to v19 are no longer supported.” Each major release is “typically supported for 24 months”.

FIG 04 · Version check
Which Angular versions are supported?
Check @angular/core in your package.json, or run ng version, then find it below. If your version is past its LTS date, it no longer gets official fixes.
| Version | Status | Released | Active support ends | LTS ends | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| v22 | Active | 3 Jun 2026 | Jun 2027 | Jun 2028 | Supported: new builds start here |
| v21 | LTS | 19 Nov 2025 | 3 Jun 2026 | Jun 2027 | Supported: plan the move to v22 |
| v20 | LTS | 28 May 2025 | 19 Nov 2025 | 28 Nov 2026 | LTS ends 28 Nov 2026: upgrade now |
| v2 to v19 | Unsupported | 2016 to 2024 | Ended | Ended | Upgrade, one major at a time |
| AngularJS 1.x | Unsupported | 2010 onwards | Ended | Ended Jan 2022 | Migrate to modern Angular |
Dates from angular.dev’s releases page and the AngularJS version support status page, checked 23 Oct 2026. angular.dev says major releases are typically supported for 24 months: 12 months of active support, then 12 months of long-term support. Month-only dates are shown as angular.dev publishes them.

Angular upgrades: how we move older apps onto v22
On v19 or older? It is unsupported. Angular upgrades go wrong in one big jump with no tests. We step through each major version with ng update, keep the app deployable at every step and show you the result in a weekly demo.
1. Audit
- Check
- Angular, TypeScript, RxJS and every library version
- Find
- Libraries with no release for the target version
- Output
- A written upgrade plan in your fixed quote
2. Tests first
- Add
- Unit and end-to-end tests on critical journeys
- Why
- Proof the app still works after each step
3. ng update, one major at a time
- Path
- e.g. 18 → 19 → 20 → 21 → 22
- Each step
- Angular’s update guide, tests green, deployable
4. Standalone components
- Move
- NgModules to standalone with the CLI migration
- Why
- Simpler lazy loading and smaller bundles
5. Signals and zoneless
- Adopt
- Signals in new and busy components first
- Then
- Drop zone.js once state flows through signals
6. Release
- How
- A planned deploy with a rollback ready
- Then
- A date for the next upgrade, before LTS ends
FIG 07 · AngularJS
AngularJS vs Angular, and AngularJS migration
AngularJS (1.x) and Angular (v2 and later) share a name, not a codebase. AngularJS is a JavaScript framework built on scopes and controllers; Angular is a TypeScript rewrite built on components. Moving between them is a migration, not an upgrade, and we run it so users keep working throughout.
06principles
Migration assessment
A written report on screens, directives, services, third-party modules and test coverage, with a hybrid-or-rewrite recommendation.
Hybrid with ngUpgrade
AngularJS and Angular run side by side in one app, and components move across one at a time.
Route-by-route rewrite
A new Angular app takes over one route or area at a time behind the same domain, and the old app shrinks until it can be switched off.
Services and data first
API calls and business logic moved into typed Angular services early, so every new screen reuses them.
Tests around journeys
End-to-end tests on sign-in, search, forms and checkout before anything moves, so regressions show up the same day.
Switch-off
The last AngularJS code removed, the bundle shrunk and the app left on a supported Angular version with an upgrade calendar.

Angular, React or Vue?
Angular gives you the most built in: routing, forms, HTTP, dependency injection and SSR, with TypeScript by default. React and Vue give you more choice and less structure. We build all three, so the advice is about your team and your app.

AngularJS migration: hybrid, incremental rewrite or full rewrite?
There is no single right way off AngularJS. This is how the three options compare; the assessment tells you which fits your app.
| Hybrid with ngUpgrade | Route-by-route rewrite | Full rewrite | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best when | The app is large and screens share a lot of code | Areas of the app are fairly separate | The app is small, or the UX is being redesigned anyway |
| Users see | One app that changes gradually | One domain, areas switching over one by one | A single cut-over to the new app |
| Release risk | Low per step | Low per step | Highest: one big release |
| Running cost during migration | Two frameworks in one bundle | Two apps behind one proxy | Old app frozen until launch |
| Watch out for | Bundle size and two change-detection systems | Shared sign-in and navigation | Feature freeze on the old app |

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about Angular Development with Elgrith.
AngularJS is the original 1.x JavaScript framework, built on scopes and controllers. Angular (v2 and later) is a full TypeScript rewrite built on components, with a different architecture, tooling and change detection. They share a name, not code, so moving from one to the other is a migration rather than an upgrade.
