FIG 02 · Quick answer
What are Java development services?
Java development services cover building, modernising and supporting back-end systems, APIs and web apps in Java. Elgrith builds on Java 25 and 21 LTS with Spring Boot, upgrades Java 8, 11 and 17 apps whose Oracle Premier Support has ended, moves Spring Boot 3 apps to 4, and deploys them on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.

FIG 03 · Why it matters
Java 17 has left Oracle Premier Support. Spring Boot 4.0 is next.
From Spring’s support data on spring.io and the Stack Overflow Developer Survey 2025, checked on 23 Oct 2026. Oracle’s own roadmap page blocked our reader, so Oracle JDK dates are as listed by endoflife.date.

30 Sep 2026
Oracle Premier Support for Java 17 ended
endoflife.date lists 30 Sep 2026 as the end of Oracle Premier Support for JDK 17, with Extended Support to 30 Sep 2029. Java 8 and 11 are on Extended Support only.

31 Dec 2026
Spring Boot 4.0 open-source support ends
Spring lists 31 Dec 2026 as the end of OSS support for Boot 4.0. Boot 3.5’s OSS support ended on 30 Jun 2026, and Boot 4.1, released 30 Jun 2026, is the current line.

Of developers used Java
In the 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey, 29.4% of all respondents used Java and 14.7% used Spring Boot. Java is far from legacy; old JDKs are.

Oracle JDK dates as listed by endoflife.date (updated 21 Oct 2026), a secondary source: Oracle’s Java SE Support Roadmap returned an access error when we checked on 23 Oct 2026. OpenJDK builds from other vendors, such as Eclipse Temurin or Amazon Corretto, follow their own support dates.

FIG 06 · Upgrade path
Java and Spring Boot upgrades: 8, 11 and 17 to 21 or 25
Most Java upgrades stall on removed APIs and old libraries, not on the language. We step through the JDK and Spring Boot versions, keep the app deployable at every step and show you the result in a weekly demo.
1. Audit
- Check
- JDK, Spring Boot and every dependency version
- Find
- Removed JDK APIs and unmaintained libraries
- Output
- A written upgrade plan in your fixed quote
2. Tests first
- Add
- JUnit 5 and Testcontainers tests on critical paths
- Why
- Proof the app still works after each step
3. JDK move
- Path
- 8 or 11 → 17 → 21 or 25
- Fix
- Java EE modules removed from the JDK in Java 11
4. Spring Boot 2 → 3
- Needs
- Java 17 or later
- Change
- javax.* imports to jakarta.*, with OpenRewrite recipes
5. Spring Boot 3 → 4
- Brings
- Spring Framework 7 and Servlet 6.1 containers
- Target
- Boot 4.1, the current line
6. Release
- How
- A planned deploy with a rollback ready
- Then
- Dates for the next JDK and Boot moves

Java development company: how we work
A fixed written quote after a free call, sprints with weekly demos, and an upgrade calendar so the JDK and Spring Boot never drift out of support. You own the code and IP.
- Step 01
Free call
Tell us what you are building or what is breaking. We ask about users, data, integrations and deadlines, not just the framework.
- Step 02
Code or idea review
For a new service: users, data, integrations and load. For an existing app: JDK, Spring Boot and dependency versions, test coverage, build tooling and hosting.
- Step 03
Fixed written quote
A written scope, a fixed quote and the plan for versions, hosting and hand-over, before any work starts.
- Step 04
Sprints with weekly demos
Two-week sprints in your repository, with pull requests you can read, tests in CI and a demo on staging every week.
- Step 05
Launch
A planned release to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or your own servers, with health checks, a rollback ready and the next upgrade dates written down.
- Step 06
Support and upgrades
Security releases applied in a patch window agreed in your written scope, plus planned upgrades before your versions lose support.

Spring Boot versions and open-source support dates
Spring Boot moves faster than the JDK: each minor line gets about 13 months of open-source support. Check spring-boot-starter-parent in your pom.xml or the Boot plugin in build.gradle.

Release and support dates from Spring’s published support data for Spring Boot (spring.io), checked 23 Oct 2026. Minimum Java from the Spring Boot system requirements; Boot 4.1 also needs Spring Framework 7. Commercial support is a paid offering from Spring’s maintainers, not from Elgrith.

Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about Java Development with Elgrith.
Start new builds on Java 25, the newest LTS, released 16 September 2025. Java 21 LTS is a sound target for upgrades when a library or platform does not support 25 yet. Both are on Oracle Premier Support (to 30 September 2030 and 2028, as listed by endoflife.date, checked 23 October 2026).
