Why it matters now
2026 is a deadline year for Magento stores.
Support dates are not a technical footnote. When a release or its PHP version leaves support, the security fixes stop coming. Checked on Adobe’s and php.net’s own pages on 23 Oct 2026.

11 Aug 2026
Magento 2.4.6 left standard support
Adobe gives each release a three-year standard support window from its general availability date. For 2.4.6 that window closed on 11 August 2026.

2.4.7+
Open Source patches, only from 2.4.7
Adobe’s note on bulletin APSB26-153: “Open Source merchants can only download patches for version 2.4.7 or later.”

31 Dec 2026
PHP 8.2 security support ends
Magento 2.4.6 runs on PHP 8.2 or 8.1, and php.net lists 31 December 2026 as the end of security support for PHP 8.2. Most 2.4.6 stores need a PHP move as well as a Magento one.

Staying on Magento vs moving
Upgrade Magento, move to Shopify or move to WooCommerce?
Upgrading is not always the answer, and neither is leaving. We build on Magento, Shopify and WooCommerce, so we recommend the one that fits your catalogue, team and budget.
| Option | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade Magento (2.4.8 / 2.4.9) | Complex B2B, large catalogues, UK + EU store views and deep custom logic | Patching and an upgrade every few years |
| Move to Shopify or Shopify Plus | Brands that want a hosted platform and less to run | Less control over checkout and hosting; a data and URL migration |
| Move to WooCommerce | Content-led stores that want WordPress and full control | You or your agency keep WordPress, plugins and PHP updated |
Our Magento vs Shopify (2026) guide, our London Shopify agency page and our WooCommerce development page cover each route in full.

Switching agencies
Take over a Magento store without stopping trade.
Many London brands come to us when their current agency has gone quiet, the store is stuck on an old release or nobody can explain the extensions. We start with a written audit, move access and backups into your name, then take over patching and the backlog step by step, so the store keeps selling while the work changes hands.
- Code and extension audit, written up in plain English
- Repository, hosting and admin accounts moved into your name
- Backups and a staging store before any change
- Security patches taken over first
- An upgrade plan with dates, in your fixed quote
Working with a London team
London partner. UK working day.

Calls in your working day
Kick-offs, reviews and demos are booked in your working day, by video. Written updates follow every call.
New Delhi engineering
Magento development, QA and patching happen at our New Delhi headquarters, the team behind 1,000+ projects since 2015.

UK requirements we build in
Built for UK shoppers from the first template
UK stores need more than a currency switch. We build these in as standard; it is not legal or tax advice, so your own adviser signs off your VAT set-up and policies.
07items
- Prices displayed with VAT, and tax classes set up for your products
- GBP pricing, with EUR or other currencies on separate store views
- UK + EU store views for selling into the EU after Brexit
- Cookie consent that blocks non-essential cookies until the shopper agrees (UK GDPR and PECR, as the ICO explains them)
- Card, wallet and pay-later payments such as Klarna and Clearpay
- Royal Mail and DPD shipping, labels and tracking
- Privacy notice and forms that collect only the data you need
How to choose a Magento agency in London
Questions to ask any Magento agency, including us
Comparing Magento agencies in London? These questions separate an agency that will keep your store supported from one that will only build it.
07items
- Do they know your release’s support date without looking it up?
- Will the repository, hosting and admin accounts be in your company’s name?
- Where does the team actually sit, and who is your day-to-day contact?
- How do they take over a store from another agency: audit first, or straight into changes?
- How do they test an upgrade before it reaches your live store?
- Do they claim partner badges? Ask for the partner directory link, then judge the code anyway
- Will they tell you when Magento is no longer the right platform for you?
