FIG 01 · Dynamics 365 Consulting

Dynamics 365 consulting that starts with a fit check, not a licence

Business Central fit checks, GP and NAV migrations, AL extensions that survive updates, and Dataverse, Power Platform and Copilot work, planned against Microsoft’s own published lifecycle dates.

FIG 02 · Quick answer

What do Dynamics 365 consulting services include?

Elgrith provides Dynamics 365 consulting services for US and UK teams: Business Central fit checks, GP and NAV migrations, AL extensions, Dataverse and Power Platform integrations, and Copilot setup. We plan against Microsoft’s published lifecycle dates, such as Dynamics GP support ending on 31 December 2029, and we hold no partner tier, so advice stays independent.

FIG 03 · Why it matters

Microsoft changed the roadmap and the clock is running on GP and NAV.

From Microsoft Learn lifecycle pages and the Microsoft Dynamics 365 blog, read on 23 Oct 2026.

FIG 04 · Deadline check

Lifecycle dates that matter

Find the version you run. If its end date is close, plan the upgrade or migration now, while you still get fixes. Business Central versions follow Microsoft’s Modern Lifecycle Policy, so each one has a fixed end date.

Sources: Microsoft Learn lifecycle pages for Business Central on-premises (Modern Policy, updated 1 Oct 2026), Dynamics GP (updated 7 May 2025) and Dynamics NAV 2018, and the Microsoft Dynamics 365 blog post of 25 Aug 2026, all checked 23 Oct 2026. Business Central online is updated by Microsoft; these dates matter most for on-premises installs.

FIG 05 · What you get

What our Dynamics 365 consulting services cover

Most of our Dynamics work is Business Central: the finance, sales and operations system for small and mid-sized companies. We also set up and integrate Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service and Field Service, and connect them through Dataverse and Power Platform.

FIG 06 · Migration

GP and NAV to Business Central migration

A migration is four jobs: data, customisations, integrations and cut-over. Most of the risk sits in the customisations and integrations, so we inventory those before any data moves.

  • Dynamics GP
  • Dynamics NAV
  • Spreadsheets
  • Power BI
  • Power Automate
  • Your store and CRM
  • Data

    Move
Master data, open documents and balances

FIG 07 · Build

Business Central consultant work

A Business Central consultant configures the standard product first, then extends it only where your process really is different, in a way Microsoft’s regular updates won’t overwrite.

06principles

  • Setup and configuration

Companies, dimensions, posting setup, number series, approvals and permission sets, documented as we go.

  • AL extensions

Custom logic as AL extensions in Visual Studio Code, kept in your source control, with automated tests.

  • AppSource apps

We check AppSource for an existing app before building, and test any app you choose against your data.

  • Reporting and Power BI

Financial and operational reports in Business Central and Power BI.

    Data visualization
  • .NET around Business Central

Services and portals that sit next to the ERP.

    .NET development
  • On-premises to online

FIG 08 · Roadmap

Microsoft ended release waves: how we track the roadmap now

On 25 Aug 2026 Microsoft moved Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Dataverse onto one AI at Work roadmap with continuous publishing. Pages that still sell a “2026 release wave 2 feature list” are out of date.

04principles

  • One always-on roadmap

Features are published as they are ready, not in two half-year batches. We check the roadmap when we plan each sprint.

  • Version end dates still apply

Business Central versions still carry fixed end dates (v29 to 6 Apr 2028 on-premises). We plan updates against them.

  • Test in a sandbox first

Every update is tried in a sandbox with your extensions before production.

  • Release Planner retiring

Microsoft says Release Planner retires by 15 Nov 2026, so we don’t build your planning on it.

FIG 09 · Copilot

Copilot and agents in Business Central

Microsoft’s Business Central pricing page lists Copilot as included, and marks the Sales Order Agent and Payables Agent as “Requires Copilot Credits (sold separately)” (read 23 Oct 2026). We set both up with the usage and approvals you agree.

06principles

  • Copilot features

Included Copilot features switched on and tested with your users, starting where they save the most typing.

  • Sales Order Agent

Quote and order drafts from customer emails, with a person reviewing before anything posts.

  • Payables Agent

Vendor invoices captured and drafted for approval, with your approval rules kept in place.

  • Copilot Credits planning

Agent usage estimated before you commit, so the credits line in your budget is not a surprise.

  • Copilot Studio

Custom agents built in Copilot Studio when the standard agents don’t cover your process.

  • Data access

Permission sets reviewed first, since agents act with the access you give them.

FIG 10 · Integrate

Dynamics 365 integrations

Dynamics rarely runs alone. We connect it to the rest of Microsoft 365 and to the systems outside it, with the error handling and logging finance teams need.

06principles

  • Dataverse

Business Central data surfaced in Dataverse for Power Apps and Power Automate, and dual-write where Finance & Operations is involved.

  • Power Automate and Power Apps

Approvals, notifications and small apps on top of ERP data.

    Power Apps development
  • SharePoint documents

Contracts, invoices and records stored and found in SharePoint.

    SharePoint consulting
  • Ecommerce

Orders, stock and prices synced between your store and Business Central.

  • Non-Microsoft systems

Business Central APIs connected to CRMs, WMS, payroll and custom apps.

    API integration
  • Accounting tools

QuickBooks, Xero or Sage data moved into, or synced with, Dynamics.

Fit check first, licence second

A free call, a fit check and a fixed written quote, then setup and migration in sprints with weekly demos. You own the extensions, configuration and documentation.

  1. Step 01

    Free call

Tell us what you run today (GP, NAV, QuickBooks, spreadsheets or another ERP), what has to change and by when. We ask about users, entities, data and integrations.

  2. Step 02

    Assessment

We map your processes, inventory customisations and integrations, and check fit for Business Central, Finance & Operations or another option before you license anything.

  3. Step 03

    Fixed written quote

A written scope, a fixed quote and the plan for data migration, testing and hand-over, before any work starts.

  4. Step 04

    Sprints with weekly demos

Configuration, extensions and data migration in sprints, with a demo in a sandbox every week and test migrations reconciled against your old system.

  5. Step 05

    Launch

A planned cut-over at a period end, after a dress rehearsal, with the old system kept read-only until sign-off.

  6. Step 06

    Support

Updates, new extensions, reports and user support on terms agreed in your written scope.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about Dynamics 365 Consulting with Elgrith.

A Dynamics 365 consultant checks whether Dynamics fits your business, then configures it, migrates your data, builds extensions and integrations, and trains your users. At Elgrith that mostly means Business Central, plus Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service and Power Platform work around it.
